Check the Energy. Photon Blaster costs two Lightning and one Colorless, and Miraidon ex has them attached.
Announce Photon Blaster and follow its text: Miraidon ex cannot attack during your next turn.
Work out the damage: 220. Charmander has no Weakness to Lightning, so the damage stays 220, and 22 damage counters go on Charmander.
Charmander has 60 HP, so it is Knocked Out. Its owner discards it with its attached cards, and you take 1 Prize card.

An attack needs the Energy its cost shows attached to the Active Pokémon. A Colorless symbol accepts any type of Energy.

A Pokémon with damage at least equal to its HP is Knocked Out. Its owner discards it with its attached cards, and the opponent takes Prize cards.
Rulebook: Turn Actions, p. 14
A Knock Out gives 1 Prize card, 2 for a Pokémon ex, and 3 for a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex.

The damage order
- 1Start with the damage printed beside the attack.
- 2Add the effects on your attacking Pokémon.
- 3Apply the Weakness of the defending Active Pokémon, for example ×2.
- 4Apply its Resistance, for example −30.
- 5Apply the effects on the defending Pokémon. Each 10 damage is one damage counter.
Damage is worked out in this order: the base damage, effects on the attacker, Weakness, Resistance, then effects on the defending Pokémon. Each 10 damage is one damage counter.
Rulebook: Full details of attacking, p. 20
Weakness and Resistance apply only to the opponent's Active Pokémon, never to a Benched Pokémon.
Rulebook: Turn Actions, p. 14
Prize cards for each Knock Out
- 1
- Prize card for most Pokémon
- 2
- Prize cards for a Pokémon ex
- 3
- Prize cards for a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
A regular Pokémon awards one Prize card. A Pokémon ex awards two. A Mega Evolution Pokémon ex awards three. Take your own face-down Prize cards into your hand.
